A reload bonus is a deposit bonus for existing players: the casino or sportsbook adds a percentage of a later deposit as bonus funds, up to a cap. It looks like a smaller version of the welcome offer, and it usually comes with the same kinds of conditions. Its value is set by those conditions, not by the headline percentage.

How is a reload bonus built?

Five parts set its size and its cost.

PartWhat it means
Match rateThe share of the deposit added as bonus, such as 50 per cent
CapThe most bonus the offer will pay, whatever you deposit
WageringHow many times the bonus (or deposit plus bonus) must be bet
RestrictionsGame weighting at a casino; minimum odds at a sportsbook
ExpiryThe deadline to claim and to finish the wagering

How is a reload bonus different from a welcome bonus?

A welcome bonus is paid once, on the first deposit. A reload can repeat: weekly, on set days, or as a targeted offer to a player's account. Match rates and caps are often lower than on the welcome offer, while the wagering can be similar or higher.

What is a reload bonus worth?

Start with the bonus, then subtract the expected cost of the wagering. At a casino, the cost is the turnover times the house edge of the counted game. A $100 reload at 20x the bonus asks for $2,000 of bets; at a 3 per cent edge that costs about $60 on average, leaving a value near $40. Lower weighting, a higher multiple or a short expiry push that figure down.

How do sportsbook reloads differ?

Sportsbook reloads usually carry a rollover at minimum odds, and some require the qualifying deposit to be wagered first as well. Bets below the minimum odds do not count. The bookmaker's margin on each bet does the job the house edge does at a casino.

Where the almanac stands

Each reload entry in the almanac takes published operator terms and works out the value after the conditions. Terms change, so every changeable figure in a read carries the date it was read. The operator's current terms always apply.
