Track Your Poker Results Like a Pro (5 Systems That Actually Work)
Stay with me here, because most poker players are losing money without even knowing it. Tracking your results is the first step to fixing that.

Day201
Entered under Primers. Also under Poker and Table maths.

Okay so like most players think they are winning but they are actually losing. Insane. And the reason is they have no idea what their actual results are. They remember the big wins. They forget about the small losses. Their brain is basically useless at math.
Here are five ways to track your poker results that actually work.
1. Spreadsheet Method
This is the most boring but honestly most reliable. You sit down at poker and you write down: date, game, stakes, buy-in, cash-out, profit or loss. Every session. Every game. You add it up at the end of the week, the end of the month.
Most people quit this after two weeks because it is tedious. But if you stick with it for a month, you will have something that actually tells you whether you are winning. And that is wild. Like knowing whether you are actually beating the game.
2. Poker App Tracking
Apps like Poker Bankroll Manager and Poker Income do this for you. You log every session. The app tracks your hourly win rate, your win rate by game type, your win rate by location. This is insane amounts of data.
The downside is they cost money and they require discipline. You have to actually enter every session immediately. But if you are serious, this is probably the best option.
3. Notebook Method
Seriously, some poker players just carry a notebook. Write down the game, the stakes, the profit. That is it. No app. No spreadsheet. Just a notebook. At the end of the month, you flip through and add it up.
It sounds low-tech but it works because you have something tangible. You can flip through your notebook and see the progression.
4. Bankroll Photos
Take a photo of your bankroll every week. Same time, same place. Then at the end of the month, look at the photos. You went from this amount to this amount. The difference is your profit or loss.
This is less precise but honestly more accurate for most people because it accounts for everything. Buy-ins, cash-outs, side games, all of it. You cannot cheat a photo.
5. Session Notes Method
After every session, write down what happened. Who played. What went well. What went badly. Then at the end of the month, organize all your session notes and tally your results.
This has the advantage of giving you information about your play quality, not just your results. You can see patterns. You might realize you lose specifically when you play table X or against player Y.
Why This Matters
The absolute crazy part is that most losing poker players have no idea they are losing. They think they are breakeven because they got lucky last week. They need to see the data over a month, minimum.
Pick one of these methods and commit to it for three months. You will find out whether you are actually winning at poker. Most people will be shocked.
Once you know your results, you can start fixing your game. You cannot fix what you do not measure.
